Description
This fine villa is nestled in the countryside, surrounded by fields of wheat and sunflowers on one side, and by wedge-shaped clay hills and their characteristic vegetation on the other. A white road lined with oak trees runs alongside a stream, hinting at the peaceful bucolic atmosphere that pervades the house. In the background, a medieval watchtower and a bare hill topped by a house and a cypress tree mark the characteristic landscape of the Val d'Orcia.
The villa is a large, sunny house built from local stone, covered in climbing roses, honeysuckle, and ivy, and surrounded by a garden with large dog rose bushes and abundant Mediterranean plants such as rosemary, sage, lavender, and thyme. The pool is nestled in a landscape typical of the Crete Senesi—the wild roses and broom growing in the garden extend into the surrounding countryside. Along one side of the house is the pool changing room, along with an outdoor kitchenette for al fresco dining. A pergola covered with honeysuckle and wisteria provides shade for a large table.
The main apartment is on the first floor. It is reached via an external staircase that leads to a large living room with an open fireplace. The walls are painted a light color. The kitchen is a typical Tuscan kitchen with a stove, extractor hood, and a level fireplace for grilling. The walls are painted a deep blue, reminiscent of old farmhouse kitchens, as it was believed that blue kept flies away in summer. The stable on the ground floor has been converted into a large summer living room overlooking the garden. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with two antique beds and an en-suite bathroom, accessible for disabled guests.
A pergola covered in vines and wisteria features a large table for outdoor dining and a small adjoining kitchen equipped with everything you need (fridge, stove, oven).
