Cavallo island, renamed the Mustique of the Med and Europe's best kept secret, lies in the Lavezzi archipelago between Sardinia and Corsica close to the Strait of Bonifacio, at about 15km/9 miles from Sardinia. It is a private island, belonging to a syndicate of property owners. The entire island, a mile and a quarter from end to end, hosts 40 private villas and a luxury hotel.
Known for golfing and sailing, there is also a small commercial area with one pizzeria restaurant and a few shops. Only bicycles and electric cars are allowed on the island. The water is lens-clear, great for snorkeling and the island diving outfit.
Overlooking the marvellous crystal waters partially surrounding the villa, Mirto is a cozy villa with its guest house hidden in an incredibly beautiful bay, bathed in the crystalline waters. The swimming pool is in front of the main villa, from where a pathway leads down to a gorgeous stretch of white sandy beach. Such a heavenly and tranquil place is sure to remain impressed in the mind and soul. A unique villa built with a profound and abiding respect for its surrounding landscapes. A fusion of privacy and nature creates this dreamy ambiance.
The villa has been designed by the architect Jacques Couelle, famous in the Smeralda coastline for having designed many villas, whose style has characterized part of the coast. The rooms of Mirto boast a very original shape, with irregular porthole windows overlooking the sea. Some rooms are modest in size, but the view and the silence makes them very special retreats. The guest house is composed of 2 bedrooms at few meters from the main villa.
A couple of maids work at the villa for the maintenance of the pool and garden, for cooking and daily cleaning in the respect of the guests' privacy.
The villa and guest house are both located at 150mt from the beach of the Bay of Greek where it is not possible to dock, therefore maximum privacy is guaranteed. Both houses have direct access to the sea.

how to get to Cavallo island
The access to the Island of Cavallo is limited, only the residences' owners and their guests are allowed to enter the Island.
From Italy, the easiest way to reach Cavallo Island is by ferry-boat from the main harbours: Savona, Livorno, Piombino, Civitavecchia or from the main airport it is possible to arrive at Olbia (Sardinia). From there, it is possible to reach Santa Teresa di Gallura (Sardinia) by car or taxi (approx. 1 hour driving), where it is possible to rent a private boat (30 minutes to the island).
Boat transfers are guaranteed from 8am to 8pm. Night transfers are available on request and subject to weather conditions.
From Corsica you can take a taxi transfer from Figari airport to the pier of Piantarella which takes approx. 30 minutes. Then boat transfer from the pier of Piantarella to the Island of Cavallo (15 minutes), there are 6/10 boat tours per day.

Both houses have separate access to the beach: the beach from the main villa has grass and from the rocks you go into the water, the beach from the guest house has a platform with sunbeds and from the rocks you can go into the water.
There is staff living at the property. Please note that only the guest house is equipped with A/C.
