The "Bastide du Chateau", accommodating 16 guests, is one of the most beautiful and oldest properties of the French Riviera. It is located at the top of a hill in a large estate with wonderful gardens, which are full of rare, old, and almost disappeared essences, and at the foot of the hill there is a charming Provencal village with shops, restaurants, etc. This outstanding estate counts 27 acres of green land and offers magnificent views from the Cap d'Antibes till the Cap Ferrat. Thus, the property truly is a unique accommodation, as much for its position and its protected environment as for the quality and comfort of the home at guests disposal. Guests will even have access to a part of the castle and some of its facilities (on request): private discotheque/cinema room in the basement, seminar room, wine cellar, its gardens and its rampart walk (the rampart walk is a unique experience at night when the feudal castle is enlightened with its gardens overlooking the sea).
This superb ancient "bastide" (from 1836) is situated at the top of a hill in the middle of the domain of Villeneuve-Loubet medieval "Chateau". Interior decoration is warm and cosy, and it has been put together with lot of care. There are many artworks, contemporary paintings, and books for botanic lovers. The entrance hall is very large and sunny and if you go directly through it, it leads to the garden on the other side of the house. On the left, there is a very beautiful living room with French windows opening onto the garden (to the south), armchairs, sofa, etc. Then, you can discover a little drawing room with TV, library (with many books on botany), this room also opens onto the garden. All the bathrooms are sumptuous and the decoration of each suite has been personalised.
The property is located at the top of a hill. After a large automatic gate with video system, a little path leads in a wood and then to the back of the "bastide". Ancient 16th century pillars support the entrance porch.
At the front of the house, an outdoor dining table has been arranged beneath the superb centenary oak. This is the perfect spot for 'al fresco' dining during warm summer evening with numerous Venetian lamps hanged up in the old tree branches.
The large swimming pool (14 m x 8 m / 46 ft x 26 ft) is below the level of the "bastide" in the gardens. To ensure children safety, the pool area is fenced. The pool has been worked out in order to arrange an area which is easier for children (i.e. shallower area). By the pool, there is shower beneath olive trees and a pool-house with WC, cabins to change and a small summer kitchen.
Around the house, the garden is wonderful and has been very well kept: oaks, olive trees, numerous flowerbeds, small paths leading to the wood, etc.
The guarded "Chateau" gardens and courtyard are accessible to guests. The gardens are exceptional (the British Garden Association regularly visits the site) and offers a wonderful view over the wooded hills and/or sea.
The owner can organise a guided visit of this stunning medieval castle, with moats and keeps, has been very well preserved through the years.
